The stories travel from Europe to the banks of the Susquehanna River. Inspired by her own Schwenkfelder heritage, Ms. Lauren pours out the history of the Schwenkfelders in a unique style that captures the essence of their heritage and what it means to be a Schwenkfelder.
Nursing in a Civil War Field Hospital: Through the Eyes of Anna Morris Holstein Sunday, October 10, 2010 2:00 p.m. Society Headquarters Using excerpts from Holstein’s diary, Smadar Shtuhl, American History Ph.D. Candidate, Temple University, will introduce the audience to not only the horrors of war, but also to society’s expectations of women in mid 19th-century America and Holstein’s personal struggles with male physicians.
